About Alli

At 12 years old, Alli Armstrong of Elizabethtown, Illinois, and her 8 year old sister, Adriana are already seasoned hunters. Alli, Adriana, and their parents, Darrick and Susan, have traveled to 7 states in pursuit of various species of turkey, whitetail deer, mule deer and elk. Nine of Alli’s hunts and three of Adriana’s hunts have aired on national television on the Outdoor Channel. Alli was awarded an internship with Brenda Potts of Midwest Legacy Marketing. As part of the internship, Alli and Adriana co-hosted a DVD called “Kids Gone Hunting.” Proceeds from the “Kids Gone Hunting” project went to Kids Hunting for a Cure.

Alli started hunting squirrels at the age of 5 with her father, Darrick, and was hooked from that day forward. At age 6, she began turkey hunting and harvested 2 double bearded turkeys. In the fall of the same year she managed to take her first deer. Alli’s passion for hunting has only increased as she has gotten older. To date, Alli has taken 19 whitetail deer with her shotgun or muzzleloader, 2 whitetail deer with her bow, one mule deer with her rifle, and 24 turkeys, 3 of which were double bearded, 2 triple bearded, and a quadruple bearded Rio. Alli’s four best bucks range from a 130 inch 8 point to a 142 inch 10 point. At the age of 10, Alli was lucky enough to draw a youth tag for a New Mexico elk hunt where she took a really nice 6x5 bull with her rifle. This hunt aired on Beyond the Lodge in April 2009. Not only did Alli complete one Grand Slam for turkeys in early April of 2009, she managed to start and complete her second Grand Slam in one season.

Adriana is following right along in her big sister’s boot tracks. She started hunting at the age of 5. At the age of 6 she took her first whitetail and turkey. Adriana currently holds the record for the youngest girl to complete a turkey grand slam in one season at barely 7 years old. Alli was there cheering her on all the way. Adriana was the subject of an article entitled “Youngest Grand Slam” which can be seen on several websites and in magazines. To date, Adriana has taken 10 turkeys and 2 whitetail deer. She dreams of the day she will be able to go elk hunting with her dad, sister, and grandpa.

Alli and Adriana find joy in all aspects of nature, from the smallest insect to the largest game animal. Whether it is finding fossils, artifacts, or just playing with a terrapin every outdoor experience is an adventure. Even though they spend every possible moment in the outdoors, Alli and Adriana have maintained a straight A average throughout their school careers.

Alli and Adriana are passionate about hunting and want to keep the sport alive by showing kids and their parents how much fun hunting can be. They have already helped several kids get started in the sport and have even demonstrated gun and archery safety knowledge at local hunter safety classes. Alli and Adriana are living proof that hunting can be enjoyed at an early age. In spring of 2009, Alli was awarded Female Student of the Year by the National Scholastic Sportsman’s Program. She is also on the NSSP Prostaff. Because of her award, Alli was featured in an issue of the NRA magazine, “Insights”. Alli has also been featured in the September 2009 issue of North American Whitetail with pictures of her 3 best bucks at the time. Alli is also a member of Cabela’s Prostaff. On May 8, 2010 Alli was featured on a radio show called Down River Outdoors.

All of Alli’s and Adriana’s hunts have been captured on video and are featured on her family’s DVD’s called Armstrongs Outdoors. The newest edition is called Family Fun in the Outdoors which features over 19 hunts. These DVD’s can be purchased on the website www.allliarmstrong.com, by contacting the Armstrongs at dasa@shawneelink.com or calling (618) 287-8827.
